Plus, why full-frame isn’t always the answer and a closer look at the DJI Osmo 360 II

Hello, fellow photographers. New camera announcements tend to get the attention, but spending time with a camera is where things get interesting. After all, what a camera boasts on paper isn’t as important as how it actually performs. With the release schedule quieting down again, we’ve had a chance to put some recent arrivals to the test. |
That hands-on time led to Richard Butler’s full review of the OM System PEN and Mitchell Clark’s exploration of the DJI Osmo 360 II in a video filmed almost entirely with the camera itself. They’re very different tools, but both pieces offer a look at what those cameras are like to use and where their respective markets stand. |
We also compared Nikon’s Z5II and Z5IIC and examined why full-frame isn’t necessarily the right format for everyone. So while there weren’t any new releases this past week, there’s still plenty to explore below. |
Let’s get into it. |

Richard Butler recently published his full review of the OM System PEN, a compact Micro Four Thirds camera built for travel and everyday photography. Its small size is certainly appealing, but its autofocus requires more intervention than we’ve come to expect. Read his assessment of where the PEN delivers and where it lags behind. |

The DJI Osmo 360 II: what is this kind of camera for in 2026? |
|
|
Mitchell Clark spent some time with the DJI Osmo 360 II to explore what 360 cameras are useful for today. The video looks at how people use them beyond immersive 360-degree content, and it was filmed almost entirely with the Osmo 360 II, giving you a look at its footage as well. |

I’ve shared content before about simple tools that lead to cool photos and videos, and the reel below is another good example of that. Videographer Scheitli Dávid used only a fish tank, carbonated water and some lights to create a video for sunglasses brand Sinner, and the result is quite dramatic. |

Photographing major sporting events is a massive undertaking for many reasons. This reel walks through a bit of the process behind documenting the US Open, including a behind-the-scenes look at how the overhead remote cameras are managed. |

“The PEN can be the kind of travel companion that you will, on occasion, find somewhat irritating. The kind that sometimes won’t always do exactly what you want to do. But also the kind that you’re so glad you took with you. And with whom you’ll create memories you wouldn’t otherwise have had.” |
