Welcome to the 744th DPReview newsletter This week we're continuing to work on Olympus's latest camera - the pro-oriented E-M1X, putting it to the test in our studio, as we make our way through the review. We also published an interview with Aki Murata, VP of sales and marketing for Olympus America, who first showed us the camera in late 2018. You'll find links to all that below. Olympus E-M1X review in progress The Olympus OM-D E-M1X is a more powerful dual-grip evolution of the E-M1 II. Aimed at sports shooters it promises improved AF, including advanced subject recognition, along with the highest-ever rated image stabilization system. Read more about the Olympus OM-D E-M1X Sigma 28mm F1.4 DG HSM Art sample gallery We first met the 28mm F1.4 Art at Photokina, where Sigma promised it would produce "best in class" performance. Now that we've shot with a full-production lens for a little while, we're starting to understand where Sigma is coming from – this lens is very sharp indeed. Take a look through our sample gallery and see for yourself. Check out our images from the Sigma 28mm F1.4 DG HSM Art 'Sensor size isn’t the answer' - Olympus exec explains the thinking behind E-M1X No full frame, no way. That was the message from Aki Murata, VP of sales and marketing for Olympus America when we spoke to him late last year about the development of the new OM-D E-M1X. Read our interview with Aki Murata of Olympus Panasonic Lumix LX100 II added to enthusiast compact buying guide Following testing of the Panasonic Lumix DC-LX100 II, we've added it to our Pocketable Enthusiast Compact Cameras buying guide as joint-winner, alongside Sony's Cyber-shot RX100 VA.

Welcome to the 743rd DPReview newsletter This week we're continuing to work on Sony's new APS-C mirrorless camera, the a6400, and you'll find links to some recent analysis and a full sample gallery in the links below. We also wrapped up a review of Nikon's new 'standard' lens, the Z 50mm F1.8 S, which it turns out isn't 'standard' at all. And as if that wasn't enough, Olympus just launched a new flagship camera! You can read more about the new OM-D E-M1X here. Review: Nikon Z 50mm F1.8 S One of three lenses launched alongside the Nikon Z6 and Z7, on the face of it the Z 50mm F1.8 S might appear the most pedestrian of the group, but it might just be the niftiest fifty we've ever seen. Read our full review of the Nikon Z 50mm F1.8 S Olympus launches OM-D E-M1X: a fast, pro-grade M43 flagship After several teasers, Olympus has revealed its sports-oriented OM-D E-M1X to the world. This rugged camera has a 20MP Four Thirds sensor, built-in 7-stop image stabilization, a 121-point hybrid AF system, burst shooting at up to 18 fps with continuous AF, motorsports / train / aircraft recognition and much, much more. Learn more about the Olympus OM-D E-M1X Lens sample gallery: Tamron 17-35mm F2.8-4 Di OSD The Tamron 17-35mm F2.8-4 is a compact and lightweight lens for full-frame Canon and Nikon DSLRs. We took it on grand tour of Seattle's top tourist spots and found it makes a pleasant, albeit wide, walking around lens. Check out our samples from the Tamron 17-35mm f2.8-4 Should I buy the Sony a6400? Here’s how it compares The Sony a6400 is, in many ways, just a refreshed a6300. But its overhauled AF system makes a big difference. We look at how it compares with its rivals in and beyond the E-mount system.
