Canon EOS R100 review: Rebel-like mirrorless camera, cheap but cuts corners
The EOS R100 is the cheapest way to get into Canon's RF-mount system. But, as the saying goes, you get what you pay for, since its older components make the R100 feel dated.
Fujifilm XF23mm F2 R WR lens review
The Fujifilm XF 23mm F2 R WR delivers a 35mm full-frame equivalent field of view and stands out due to its small size and weather-resistant build. However, it faces stiff competition from lenses with faster F1.4 apertures. In this review, we tell you what you need to know about this popular lens.
Hasselblad CFV 100C delivers modern medium format with classic style
Hasselblad has announced the CFV 100C, a 100MP version of its medium format back. The 100C features phase detect AF and face detection when used with the 907X camera and XCD lenses.

Reader question of the week

Last week, we asked for your reactions to Apple's Vision Pro; here is what you told us:

DPReview readers on Apple Vision Pro

  1. "At my age, I am still trying to conquer my iPhone. But wait, will you be able to go for a hike, see something you want to photograph and just blink or wink an eye and capture it? Then WiFi it back to your desktop?"

Good question. I'm personally not sure if we'll get to the blink/wink stage soon. There's also the privacy issue and how the device will signal to others that you're recording. That was an ongoing concern with Google Glass when it hit the streets. - Shaminder

  2. "This is a device for developers...This device will eventually lead to the device that will be desirable."

  3. "It's a toy. Not made for wearing for 8 hours. You would have to charge it 4 times to do that."

  4. "I have to admit, I had not really taken this thing seriously. Until now. Mother of God, this is every science fiction interface you've ever seen - but it actually seems to work!"

  5. "I really like the "Further Reading" section!!!"

And we like you too! Thanks for reading and reaching out. I'm going to open this up, if someone has a question they'd like to see in this section, e-mail me. - Shaminder

Thanks everyone for sharing with us.

Here's our next question of the week:
What is your favorite lens and why?

One thing: Taking stock of gear and when to let go or lean in
We're as guilty as anyone of getting excited about shiny new gear and features, but let's not lose sight of the gear we already have by our side. Let's better appreciate what we have, consider what gives us joy, and get out there to take some photos.
iPhone 15 Pro Max sample gallery: Is 5x telephoto reach worth the upgrade?
The iPhone 15 Pro Max stretches into new telephoto territory with its tetraprism design and 5x (120mm equivalent) reach. Is the extra optical oomph worth the upgrade over the iPhone 15 Pro's 3x (77mm equivalent) telephoto?
Apple Vision Pro now available for preorder
Apple's $3,499 "spatial computer" is now officially available for preorder, with orders shipping on February 2nd alongside in-store availability.

With our studio testing fully operational, things are speeding up at DPReview HQ.

Nikon Zf review: the classiest mirrorless of them all?
The Nikon Zf is a 24MP full-frame mirrorless camera with classic looks that adds the latest Expeed 7 processor and features such as 3D Tracking AF to the $2000 price bracket. We're not sure the experience lives up to the looks.

Further Reading

Last week, we asked you for your predictions for 2024, and boy, did you come up with some whoppers! Here are five that stood out.

DPReview reader's 2024 predictions

  1. "Having reached the age of 89 my idea of the 2024 camera update would be a camera that I could send out with specific instructions. It would return with the photos that matched my instructions. Just kidding."

Oh dear, don't give AI any ideas now! - Shaminder

  2. "After reading about Sony's global shutter I suspect that the global shutter initiative will take a step back but the work will continue. Just how quickly we see the next iteration, without the limitations, remains to be seen. Doesn't sound like 2024 will be the year of mass production of cameras with global shutters."

  3. "... I wish I could see a classic K-mount digital camera from Pentax. As simple as it gets. A great sensor on a beautiful classic body just like a Pentax LX."

  4. "My personal not-so-wild prediction is that I won't be able to afford any new camera anything and will be using my old gear just as before and still enjoying the heck out of it!"

Ain't no shame in that game! Getting out and using your gear to be creative is always better than staying home to make wishlists. Be merry and chase the light. - Shaminder

  5. This next one isn't a prediction, but rather some well wishes we appreciated: "Happy birthday DPReview!!! ..and thanks for 25 years of fantastic job :) .. and now towards the second round."

Thanks everyone for sharing with us.

Here's our next question of the week:

Apple's Vision Pro preorders start today. What do you think of the device? Will you be buying one? Does Apple have another winner?

Tenba Axis V2 18L backpack review: Fully functional, but lacking in features and flair
Tenba knows how to make a bag, and the Axis V2 18L is no exception. But this chunky yet competent backpack doesn't have a killer feature or look that makes it stand out from some pretty tough competition.
