We're back with another round-up of the latest photography news. Below are a few of the biggest stories of the week, followed by a summary of all the articles we've covered since our last newsletter. Happy early Canada Day to our Canadian readers and happy 4th of July to our American readers! Gannon Nikon announces new APS-C vlogging camera Nikon has announced the Z30, its newest APS-C Z-mount camera. The camera is effectively a Z50 with its EVF chopped off and the articulating rear display from the Z fc. Check out our news coverage, initial review and DPReview TV’s initial review. Nikon announces its new 400mm F4.5 VR S super-telephoto lens Alongside the Z30, Nikon also announced a new 400mm F4.5 VR S super-telephoto lens for Z-mount cameras. The lens is incredibly compact, coming in only slightly larger than the company's 70–200mm F2.8 Z-mount zoom lens, and all without the help of any Phase Fresnel elements. Check out our news coverage and DPReview TV’s Director’s Cut preview. Capture One Mobile for iPad released bringing a Lightroom alternative to iPadOS for $5/month Capture One Mobile brings the photo management and editing app to Apple’s iPad ecosystem for the first time. There’s still plenty of room for improvements and new features, but Capture One is off to a good start for creators wanting to sort and edit photos on the go.
Samsung's new 200MP ISOCELL HP3 image sensor has incredibly small pixels The new HP3 sensor has the same megapixel count as its HP1 predecessor, but its pixels are even smaller, measuring just 0.56-micrometers (μm) across. This should, at least in theory, allow smartphone manufacturers to shrink the camera modules on their flagship devices.

Update: The original newsletter had a pair of links that would send you to a 404 page. Below is an updated newsletter with all of the correct links in place. Apologies for the inconvenience! Happy Friday, readers! Due to some technical difficulties we experienced yesterday, our newsletter is coming to you a day late. Next week, we will return to our regularly scheduled programming with a usual Thursday release. With that out of the way, let's get to it. The photography world is well in the middle of its usual mid-year lull. But there’s still been plenty of news over the past week, including a sneak peek at Nikon's new compact telephoto lens, a sample gallery of OM System's new 12-40mm F2.8 Pro II lens and a rather unique firmware update from Ricoh that adds new color modes to three of its DSLR cameras - but only if you have the right lens attached. Here’s a summary of the biggest news stories of the week, followed by all of our other coverage. Gannon DPReview TV: Nikkor Z 400mm F4.5 VR sneak peek DPReview TV goes hands-on with Nikon's new Nikkor Z 400mm F4.5 VR lens to share a sneak peek at Nikon's next telephoto prime lens. OM System 12–40mm F2.8 PRO II sample gallery DPReview Editor Dale Baskin took the new OM System 12-40mm F2.8 Pro II lens around the Pacific Northwest to see what this fast, compact zoom offers. Enjoy the scenery and pixel-peep to your hearts content. DPReview TV: The most expensive camera in the world Last week, we shared the news of the most expensive camera ever sold, a 0-Series Leica prototype camera used by Oskar Barnack that sold for $15M at auction. DPReview TV's Chris and Jordan were on-location to experience the event and watch the hammer drop on the record-breaking sale.
Ricoh announced a small set of firmware updates for three of its DSLR cameras that add new Custom Image modes based on the various seasons of the year. But there's a catch - the new Custom Image modes will only work with select Pentax Limited-series lenses attached to the camera. Otherwise, you'll be limited to your standard set of Custom Image modes.
