Hello DPReview newsletter readers! I'm Gannon Burgett, the news editor at DPReview. While I'm far from new to the site (I've been working at DPReview in some capacity since 2018), this is my first week at the helm of our newsletter. And what a week it was. In addition to the usual array of photo news, Fujifilm and Sony made major announcements for their respective APS-C camera systems while Sigma showed off its new wide-angle zoom lens for a pair of full-frame camera systems. Lens manufacturer Laowa even got in on the action with the launch of a periscope version of its wild 24mm F14 2x macro probe lens. In addition to those major announcements, featured below, you'll find all of our other coverage from the past week. In the meantime, I, and the rest of the DPReview team, plan to wean ourselves off the extensive amounts of caffeine we've consumed over the past week-and-a-half and hope to sneak in some naps this weekend (wishful thinking, I know). Gannon Fujifilm has announced its latest high-end APS-C camera, the 26MP X-H2S, the most all-round capable X-series camera to date. Check out our coverage, including our initial review and DPReview TV's First Impressions review, to see what Fujifilm's latest camera has to offer for photographers and videographers alike.
Sony launches three new APS-C lenses It's been three years since Sony released a new APS-C lens. While it's been a long time coming, Sony is back with a vengeance, announcing two new primes and one power zoom lens for its APS-C E-mount camera systems. You can find all of our coverage, including sample galleries, a DPReview TV episode and more, on our summary page.
After months of chatter throughout the rumor mills, Sigma has unveiled the 16-28mm F2.8 DG DN | Contemporary lens. This fast, wide-angle full-frame zoom is built with both stills and video shooting in mind and is, at least at launch, limited to Sony E and L-mount camera systems. DPReview TV went hands-on with the new full-frame zoom to see how it performs, which you can judge for yourself in our accompanying sample gallery.
DPReview TV goes hands-on with Laowa's new 24mm F14 periscope probe lens Chris and Jordan take a 90-degree look at what you can do with an already-wacky lens when you throw a periscope on the end of it.
RED sues Nikon for allegedly infringing on its video compression technology RED alleges Nikon is using its intellectual property in its Z series mirrorless cameras, explicitly calling out the N-RAW capture mode of the Z9 with firmware version 2.0.
