Welcome to the 612th Digital Photography Review newsletter. Last week ended on a sad note, as we said goodbybe to our friend and Luminous Landscape founder Michael Reichmann. He'll be missed. This week has been pretty busy. We published our in-depth review of the Nikon D500, and I finally got to show you that hand-built kayak I mentioned a few weeks ago, in our field test of Canon's EOS 80D. I hope you enjoy both of those pieces of content, and you'll find links below. Back to the action: Nikon D500 Review The Nikon D500 is a 21MP DSLR that shares many of its key features with Nikon's flagship D5, but packs them into a smaller APS-C format body. The long-awaited successor to the D300S, the D500 is Nikon's most professional DX-format camera ever and we've just finished our in-depth review. Check it out!Click here to see read our review of the Nikon D500 Canon EOS 80D Field Test: Barney builds a boat When the opportunity presented itself to build a traditional Greenland-style skin-on-frame kayak with craftsman and friend of DPR Kiliii Yuyan, I jumped at the chance, and took the Canon EOS 80D along with me to document the process. I hope you enjoy watching this video - we had a lot of fun making it. Click here to watch our field test of the Canon EOS 80D Lens shootout: Sony RX10 III destroys the competition Recently, I took the Sony Cyber-shot RX10 III hiking, and I was pretty impressed. Back in the office, studio manager Sam Spencer took the RX10 III, II, the Panasonic FZ1000 and the Canon G3X up to the balcony for a good old-fashioned shootout. Spolier alert: the RX10 III did pretty well. Click here to take a look at our test of the Sony Cyber-shot RX10 III's lens Updated camera roundups! We've been updating our portfolio of camera roundups over the past few weeks, in an effort to bring you an up to date picture of all the various options available, as we enter (summer) holiday season.
