Welcome to DPReview Newsletter #791 - no, really. First, some admin. At some point in the past few weeks we got out of sync and suddenly jumped into the 800s. This is, in fact, the 791th DPReview Newsletter, not the 881st, as last week's would have you believe. It's the end of the year, I hope you'll forgive us. Counting is hard. Back to business: Here at DPReview we're winding down for the year, but we still have some new content for you this side of Dec 31st. Watch out for a couple of articles looking back over the last decade in the coming days, as well as the final results of our two current readers' polls to find the best gear of 2019 and the most important cameras of the 2010s. You'll find links to other recent content below. As always, thanks for reading, and a very happy Christmas to all our loyal readers. We couldn't do any of this without you, and we wouldn't want to. As 2019 draws to a close, I hope you're able to take at least a day or two for yourself, to spend with friends and family. Barney 2019 Buying Guides and Holiday Gifts On this page you'll find our comprehensive collection of camera and lens buying guides, arranged both by price, and by use-case. Whatever kind of photography you enjoy, we'll help you find something to suit your needs — and your budget. 2019 Gear of The Year - our favorite cameras and lenses Every year the DPReview editorial team sits down to pick our personal favorite gear of the past 12 months. From phones to drones, to high-end mirrorless cameras, read this years' articles via the link below. Read our 2019 Gear of the Year articles Have your say: Most significant cameras of the 2010s A couple of weeks ago we published a breakdown of what we consider the 20 most important cameras of the 2010s. We made that list into a readers' poll, which runs until the end of this month. If you didn't vote yet, now's your chance! Vote in our poll for most significant cameras of the 2010s Fun winter projects for long dark winter days With the nights and mornings pretty close together for the next few months, and the sun taking some time out to recoup, many photographers head indoors to escape the dark and the rain. But that doesn't mean you need to put down your camera.

Welcome to the 880th DPReview newsletter The year is almost over, but we're still working hard here at DPReview towers (we're actually only on the third floor but we can dream). We just published what is likely to be the last full review of 2019, in the form of our in-depth look at the Nikon Z50. We've also been finishing up our seasonal selection of personal 'gear of the year' picks from the editorial team. Meanwhie, the annual readers' polls for best camera and lenses of the year just closed, and voting is now open for the final poll, so cast your vote while you still can! Nikon Z50 review We've been testing the Nikon Z50 extensively and found a lot to like about it. However, the camera's biggest drawback is probably that it faces such well-established competition. Read our in-depth review of the Nikon Z50 Gear of the Year 2019: DPReview staff picks Every year we sit down as a team and pick our personal favorite gear of the past 12 months. This year sees DPReview editors sing the praises of everything from major mirrorless cameras to camera-equipped drones. Read our 2019 picks for gear of the year The results are in! Best gear of 2019 - winners and runners-up For the past few weeks, our readers have been voting on their favorite photographic gear in three categories: Best camera, best zoom lens and best prime lens. Now that the first round of voting is over, it's time to reveal the winners. Laowa 15mm F2 Zero-D sample gallery: aurora borealis and architecture The Laowa 15mm F2 Zero-D is a fast, wide prime lens for full frame mirrorless cameras. We used it for astrophotography and architectural photography – a couple common use cases for this type of lens.
