Thursday is here, so it’s time for another DPReview newsletter! Here’s a round-up of our latest news and features from the photo world. Earlier in the week, we shared a hands-on review of the intriguing NONS SL660 Instax Square camera, as well as a final review of the Canon EOS R6 Mark II by DPReview TV. Erez Marom then kicked off the week with ‘Part 7’ of his ‘Landscape Composition’ and we followed it up with a brief explainer on our decision to not switch to Fujifilm’s new 56mm F1.2 WR lens as our X-mount studio lens. Nikon kept the middle of the week interesting with a new firmware update for the Z50 and DPReview’s Jason Hendardy shared the features he’d most like to see in a proper hybrid camera. Gannon DPReview TV: Canon EOS R6 Mark II Final Review Chris and Jordan have shared their final thoughts on Canon’s latest full-frame mirrorless camera system, the EOS R6 Mark II. What DPReview’s Jason Hendardy wants to see in future hybrid cameras DPReview’s Jason Hendardy, as part of DPReview’s ‘Finer Points’ series, has shared a comprehensive lsit of features he’d like to see in future hybrid cameras. Amongst his requests is the option for selecting the shutter angle for recording, as well as 32-bit float audio support for improved audio management. The importance of the sky in landscape photographs DPReview contributor Erez Marom shared Par 7 of his ongoing ‘Landscape Composition’ series. In this article, Marom discusses the role the sky plays in landscape compositions. Cosina’s Voigtländer 50mm F1 Aspherical lens is coming to Nikon Z-mount cameras The new ultrafast manual prime for Nikon Z-mount cameras is essentially a re-mounted version of Cosina’s existing Voigtländer 50mm F1 Aspherical lens for Leica M-mount cameras. Gannon DPReview TV’s Sony a7R V final review After spending a few weeks with a production model of Sony’s latest full-frame E-mount camera, Chris and Jordan have shared their final conclusions in a detailed final review. An interview with Panasonic’s Director of Imaging Yosuke Yamane, Vice President of Panasonic’s Entertainment and Communication business and director of its imaging business unit, sat down with DPReview to discuss the company’s new S5 II full-frame camera, as well as his thoughts on Micro Four Thirds camera systems and the need for small cameras. Apple introduces updated MacBook Pro and Mac Mini models with new M2 chipsets In a pre-recorded event, Apple revealed its new M2 Pro and M2 Max chipsets, as well as the new computers they’ll be packed inside. Apple’s new Mac Mini has been updated with the M2 and M2 Pro chipset while the new MacBook Pros will be available with either the M2 Pro or M2 Max. Check out our coverage to see all the details of Apple’s new chipsets and computers. Sony is developing a 300mm F2.8 G Master OSS lens While Sony’s new 20–70mm F4 G lens stole the show, the company also announced it’s working to develop a new 300mm F2.8 high-end telephoto lens for its E-mount camera systems. Little is known about the lens, but considering its 400mm and 600mm G Master companions offer impeccable optical performance, it’s probably safe to say this one will, too. Hands-on with a $600 Instax camera that uses EF-mount lenses Last year, NONS Camera unveiled the SL660, a $600 Instax Square camera that uses an EF-style lens mount for capturing instant photographs with interchangeable lenses.
