Hello readers! After a few slower weeks, this week proved to be busy. NASA kicked it off by sharing the first test image from the James Webb Space Telescope and followed that up by publishing the first full images, showcasing incredible scenes from more than 4.6 billion lightyears away. Here on Earth, Canon launched two new RF lenses while Japanese finance publication Nikkei reported Nikon is shutting down DSLR production, leading Nikon to publish a follow-up claim that it will continue to make, sell and support its existing DSLR cameras. Yes…eventually...but so is Canon Nikkei made waves earlier this week by stating in a report that Nikon was going to stop making DSLRs. While not necessarily surprising news in and of itself, Nikon caught wind of the report and issued a statement saying ‘has made no announcement in this regards.’ So, who’s right? As we pointed out in our initial news summary, both Nikkei and Nikon. Pre-orders are currently live at authorized retailers for those who want to get in line sooner than later. Going hands-on with Canon’s 32.5MP EOS R7 RF APS-C camera Is Canon’s EOS R7 a 7D replacement? Is it a 90D replacement? The answer lies somewhere in the middle, right alongside the question of who its current competition is and what sets it apart from the likes of Sony’s a6600 and Fujifilm’s X-T4 mirrorless cameras. NASA reveals the first images from the James Webb Space Telescope After teasing the first test image at the end of last week, NASA and its partners unveiled the first full-resolution image from its $10B James Webb Space Telescope, ‘Webb’s Dark Field.’ The next day, they followed it up with four more images that highlight the incredible scenes the telescope is capable of capturing.
