Welcome to the 623rd Digital Photography Review newsletter. Summer is here and we're faced with the paradoxical situation of having plenty of good weather and activities to shoot while, at the same time, we're running low on products we haven't already reviewed. But, with Photokina on the horizon, this lull won't last for long so we're also gearing up to deal with the launches that are bound to come. There'll be plenty for you to read about in the meantime, though. Fujifilm X-E2S The Fujifilm X-E2S is a gentle refresh of the original X-E2, launched back in 2013. The price has been significantly lowered but the world has moved on. Does that lower price make the camera attractive to a beginner audience or is it well suited to enthusiasts on a budget? Carey spent some time shooting with the X-E2S to find out.Canon prepares for the Olympics Obviously Photokina isn't the only big photographic event happening this summer. As a sponsor, Canon is the only camera brand allowed to use the word 'Olympics' and its capitalized on this by giving us a peek behind the scenes as it prepared for the Rio games. We conducted an exclusive interview with one of the directors of Canon's 'Professional Services' team. Find out what it takes to support photographers at the world's largest sporting event. Worth the extra? We compare the Sony a7 II and a7R II The Sony a7 II looks a lot like its higher-resolution sibling, the a7R II but there's more to set them apart than the pixel count. We dug into those differences, to help distinguish between the two cameras. Click here to read our comparison of the Sony a7 II and the Sony a7R II A look at our studio test scene The studio test scene is at the heart of our reviews but it's not always obvious how we shoot it or why we shoot it the way we do. We've put together a short article to show you how it works. Read our introduction to our studio scene Thanks for reading and stay tuned. Richard | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||
