Welcome to the 625th Digital Photography Review newsletter. Apologies for the break in service - technical issues prevented us from sending a newsletter last week or the week before but fear not - we're back! And a busy couple of weeks it has been. The really big news recently was the launch of a new DSLR from Canon. The EOS 5D IV replaces the popular Mark III and brings a range of additional features and refinements, including a totally redesigned shutter and a new 4K video mode. We've prepared a number of in-depth articles about the EOS 5D IV and you can read them all from the links provided below. Without further ado, let's take a look at what we've been working on over the past few weeks. Canon launches 30MP EOS 5D IV Canon has officially announced the EOS 5D Mark IV, the fourth generation of its full-frame DSLR for enthusiast and professional photographers. Built around a 30MP Dual Pixel AF sensor, it significantly extends the stills and video capabilities the series has become known for. We've been shooting with, and testing the new camera for some time, and we've prepared a range of in-depth content. The M3 is slightly more sophisticated (and enjoyable) than the original M1, thanks to its gaining of a command dial and exposure comp control. We didn't get the chance to test the original model in depth so we've used the M3 to catch up with the system. It's pretty, well built and keenly priced, so why isn't Canon tearing up the mirrorless market? Click here to read Jeff's review. Canon EOS-1D X Mark II: What you need to know The EOS-1D X II is Canon's current flagship pro-level DSLR. We've pulled out the most important details from our review to give you an overview about what makes this photo-taking monster interesting. Read our breakdown of the Canon EOS-1D X Mark II's key features Nikon announces D3400 entry-level DSLR and lenses Nikon has refreshed its entry-level DSLR offering with the announcement of the D3400. It's a fairly gentle update of the D3300 with the addition of a Bluetooth-only version of the company's 'SnapBridge' smart device communication system. Alongside the camera are VR and non-VR versions of the 18-55mm and 70-300mm kit zooms, now based around AF-P 'pulse' stepper motors.
