Break out the bubbly and congratulate the winners of the 2023 DPReview Awards, our annual recognition of the best of the best in cameras, lenses, accessories and more.

For the DPReview editors, the awards are a highlight of the year, a time to share our individual shortlists and reflections on what gear was truly interesting, innovative, joyful or useful that year. We weigh the pros and cons of everything we tried and compare notes. Sometimes, these chats confirm that an issue or gripe one person ran into was a common issue, other times they spark debate over camera performance and use cases. We always come away learning from each other with a ton of ideas for the future.

Behind the scenes: We started deliberations in October and met every couple of weeks to reassess. We always want to get it right and more time to recheck gear and debate is always better. Ultimately, the final decisions aren't ones we come to lightly and we make these decisions alone. No manufacturer, advertiser or any other party has any power to vote, suggest, sway or influence our conclusions. Like all stories on DPReview, we hold ourselves to high journalistic standards and independent testing and reporting is the cornerstone of our work.

So, do you agree with our picks? Did we get it right? What are you waiting for, read the story and let us know in the comments!

Reader question of the week: And while we're looking back at 2023, I'm curious: What were some of your favorite DPReview stories of 2023? Drop me a line.
